US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump is likely to arrive at Begumpet airport instead of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad to take part in Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) starting from November 28.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also land at the Begumpet airport to inaugurate the Metro Rail at Miyapur station and the summit to be held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Madhapur here.
Advanced Security Laisoning (ASL) Team comprising officials from the elite Special Protection Group (SPG), Deputy Commissioner of Police concerned, Airport Director and others are coordinating the security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.
One of the reasons that prompted security personnel to consider Begumpet airport is to avoid diverting regular air traffic at
RGIA during the landing of Ivanka’s flight as there is only a single runway at the airport. The former US Presidents – Bill Clinton and George W Bush – too landed at the Begumpet airport in Air Force One in 2000 and 2006 respectively. At that time, the airspace over Hyderabad was sealed for a while, officials recalled.
The State police are yet to receive the itinerary about the arrival of Ivanka but the administration in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a hassle-free passage to her.
US security forces, who are already camping here, are coordinating with the police in finalising the route map to Ivanka, an official said. Officials from US, it is learned, had visited thrice to coordinate with senior officials in Delhi for making security arrangements in the city during the summit.
