According to sources, Ivanka is likely to visit Golconda Fort during her leisure time. She will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj one-on-one at HICC, the venue of the summit. Ivanka is scheduled to fly out of Hyderabad by Emirates Airlines EK 529 at 9.20pm on Wednesday.
According to Telangana police sources, out of the seven places identified by the local US consulate officials, the security agencies zeroed in on Golconda Fort tentatively for her visit. It has been confirmed that she will not participate in the dinner to be hosted by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao at Golconda Fort on November 29. She may visit the fort during daytime on Wednesday. Initially, US consulate officials identified Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Chowmahalla Palace, Golconda Fort, Quli Qutub Shahi tombs and T hub as possible places of visit for Ivanka. “While Charminar was ruled out for security reasons, finally, out of all these, only
Golconda Fort is on the cards,” said a senior police official.
On her arrival, Ivanka will be received at the Ceremonial Lounge by state government officials. In the evening, after the summit, Ivanka will take part in the dinner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other invitees at Falaknuma Palace. She will be visiting Tree of Life, a showcase of handicrafts of India, at the dinner venue and will be served a five-course dinner with Mughalai (Hyderabadi) cuisine and Continental as the main course.
Her visit to Golconda Fort is tentative and officials are tight-lipped about it. According to the Telangana Tourism Department, Ivanka could show interest in Golconda Fort as it contains ruins of palaces, mosques and a hilltop pavilion. At Fateh Darwaza, the victory gate, acoustical effects can be witnessed which is said to be an engineering marvel. Ivanka could experience all this during her visit to Golconda Fort, said the sources.
