The JAC of students protesting against UoH research scholar Rohith Vemula’s suicide has decided to take out a ‘Chalo Delhi’ programme on February 4.
The JAC members appealed to students from across universities to join the march planned from Mandi House to MHRD. As announced earlier, the classes and research labs along with library stayed open but the agitating students laid a siege to the administration building.
On Friday morning, interim Vice-Chancellor Vipin Srivastava tried to enter
the building but was heckled by the students, forcing him to leave the place.
The SC/ST Teachers Forum continued their relay hunger strike demanding the stepping down of Prof Srivastava. The Forum members also criticised Prof Srivastava for giving himself clean chit in the 2008 suicide case of Senthil Kumar.
The JAC will also send a number of letters addressed to President Pranab Mukherjee and requesting him to intervene and ask VC Appa Rao and interim VC Prof.Srivastava to step down.
