Jalagam Prasad Rao, former Minister and son of former Chief Minister late Jalagam Vengal Rao on Friday announced his decision to join the TRS.
As a damage control measure, the disciplinary committee of the Congress revoked the six year suspension on Prasad on Friday in a bid to placate him and retain him in the party fold. But he did not relent.
He had already taken the green signal from the TRS leadership for his induction. He will join the party along with his followers at TRS Bhavan in the presence of Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao at 4 pm on
Saturday.
Prasad Rao said the Congress is no longer the same party. “Its alliance with the TDP speaks volumes about its fall. The alliance is unholy and not acceptable to the masses,” he said.
He said he was attracted by what Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had done for the peasant community in the State in the past four years. Programmes like Rythu Bandhu were unique and no other State had implemented such schemes till now, he said, adding that he would work for the success of the TRS nominees not only in Khammam district but in other parts of the State too.
