A month after B Janardhan Reddy was removed as Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority commissioner, the state government appointed him as education secretary on Wednesday.
The appointment was declared in a GO by chief secretary to the government, Shailender Kumar Joshi. “Dr B Janardhan Reddy, who was waiting for a posting, is posted as secretary to the government, education department, with immediate effect, duly relieving Sri Ajay Mishra from the said
post,” read the order.
Before joining HMDA, he was appointed as GHMC commissioner on October 20, 2013 for nearly two-and-half years. Incidentally, he was the only commissioner who served as GHMC chief for more than 30 months. In August 2018, as part of a reshuffling ahead of the assembly polls, he was appointed as HMDA commissioner. However, in a surprising development, he had to exit the new post in January 2019.
