As many as 145 passengers had a providential escape after the aircraft they were traveling on caught fire after landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad here in the wee hours of Thursday.
Around 1.30 am, Jazeera flight number J9 608 that arrived from Kuwait caught fire in the right side engine due to a technical problem after landing and while the
plane was approaching the taxiway.
The aircraft was immediately stopped and fire tenders of GMR reached the spot. Meanwhile, the pilot stopped the engine and the fire was gradually brought under control.
Later, the aircraft was shifted to Bay Number 59. No casualties were reported, according to airport sources.
