Tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday reopened the 800-year-old Pillalamarri Banyan Tree children's park in Mahbubnagar. The park had been closed since 2018 as the age-old tree was undergoing treatment for termite and fungal infestation. The tree has now regained most of its canopy. The Pillalamarri Banyan Tree, with its vast network of roots and branches, creates a forest-like appearance and is a major tourist attraction due to its size and historical significance, the minister said while reopening the site
The minister announced Rs 5 crore for its development, which includes new attractions, such as water sports, and the promotion of historical sites to boost state tourism. Krishna Rao also spoke about the development of the state's tourism sector: “In addition to Nallamala Sanctuary, Mallela Theertham, Somashila, Sarala Sagar, Koil Sagar, there are many tourist spots. We will establish a tourism circuit connecting all these places.”

tourism in the state like Western countries. We will provide all the necessary facilities. The government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is determined to develop all sectors in the state, including tourism,” the minister added. He further stated, “There are many more tourist destinations in our state. We will ensure all necessary facilities are provided at these tourism centres. We are creating a tourism market to promote historical and cultural sites.”
During his visit, the minister reviewed various tourism development projects in Mahbubnagar district, including the ongoing construction of a 3-star hotel.
