Justice Hima Kohli on Thursday took oath as the first woman Chief Justice of Telangana High Court at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad. State governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered oath to Hima Kohli in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, ministers, high court judges and a limited number of advocates.
Hima Kohli become the first woman Chief Justice of Telangana High Court which came into existence on January 1, 2019. The first
Chief Justice of the state was TBN Radha Krishnan. Later, the Supreme court collegium recommended Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan as the permanent Chief Justice of Telangana HC in May 2019, transferring Justice Radhakrishnan as Chief Justice of Calcutta HC. Justice Hima Kohli of Delhi High Court was recently elevated as the new Chief Justice of Telangana HC and the notification for the same was issued by the centre on December 31,2020.
