Addressing 14th
All India Meet of State Legal Services Authorities at Park Hayat here, the
Chief Minister said since Constitution provides equal justice to all, the Legal
authorities should see that justice was not denied to the poor or those with
disability. KCR stated Lok Adalats have been playing key role by emerging as a
system of alternative dispute resolution. The concept is an evolution from the
age-old method of dispute resolution in India through mediation of elders,
he said, adding that the focus is on
compromise.
“The Lok Adalats are able to resolve the cases amicably as there are neither court fees nor any rigid procedural requirements”, he said. Cases pending in courts can be transferred to Lok Adalats to reduce pressure on the judicial system, he said, adding that the government was committed to avoid litigation. “Our policy is to be people-friendly and offer them justice by discouraging litigations and pendency of cases”, he said. The Government was ready to fund the High Court to implement its plan to construct Mediation Centers at all districts headquarters for the purpose, KCR stated. “It is time for legal authorities to expedite their mechanism for disposal of cases. Through this mechanism the parties can talk to judges for speedy justice, which do not require to touch on the monetary aspects”, he added.
