Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who has been invited to dine with US President Donald Trump at Rashtrapati Bhavan will leave for Delhi on Tuesday morning on a special flight.
President Ram Nath Kovind is hosting a dinner on Tuesday evening in honour of Mr Trump, who arrived in India on Monday for a two-day visit.
According to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Mr Rao will be carrying a representation of the iconic Charminar as a memento to give Mr Trump.
He is also gifting the famous Pochampally and Gadwal silk sarees to US First Lady Melania Trump and Ms Ivanka Trump, the President’s
daughter.
In 2017, Ms Ivanka Trump had visited Hyderabad and received a grand welcome from the Telangana state government. Mr Rao had met with her then.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have a brief chat with all the Chief Ministers who have been invited to the dinner.
CMO officials said that if Mr Rao manages to have a word with the American President he may discuss bilateral issues. Hyderabad has the second largest number of IT companies and multinationals in the country.
Mr Rao may also stay on in Delhi to meet Union ministers and discuss pending issues related to Telangana state.
