Sanitary workers and personnel of the Disaster Response Force of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation were in for a surprise of sorts on Wednesday.
They had Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao joining them for lunch at the GHMC’s DRF training centre near Sanjeevaiah Park.
The minister, who joined the sanitation workers, entomology staff and the DRF personnel, appreciated the efforts of the civic body workers who have been rendering services on a par with medical professionals and the police.
“The Telangana government acknowledges and respects every contribution for the sake of people.
The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, is giving full salary along with incentives to the staff of sanitation, DRF and entomology wing,” Rao told them.
The minister served lunch to the workers, enquired about their health and advised them to take necessary precautions. He also appealed to them to spread awareness in their neighbourhood on the importance of maintaining hygiene and social distancing to contain coronavirus.
Tourism Minister Srinivas Goud, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Legislator Balka Suman, Principal Secretary (MA&UD) Arvind Kumar, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and others were present.
