The busy Uppal crossroads came alive on Monday evening with activists of the ruling BRS participating in large numbers in a road show addressed by party working president K.T. Rama Rao.
The four lanes from Ramanthapur, Uppal, Hubsiguda and Chilkanagar connecting Uppal cross roads were blocked with activists as they assembled at the crossroads waving Rama Rao.
The crossroads turned pink with BRS flags and bunting. The recently inaugurated skywalk was also occupied by the BRS followers to listen to Rama Rao’s speech.
Before arriving at the Uppal junction, leaders wearing pink scarves and caps took out separate rallies from Hubsiguda, Chilkanagar and Ramanthapur from their areas and culminated at the meeting place.
Addressing the gathering, Rama Rao requested the people in Uppal constituency to vote for development and assured that the metro rail services would be extended to ECIL. From LB Nagar, Rama Rao, the metro services would be extended till Pedda Amberpet.
The police had a tough time regulating vehicular traffic as dais was put up at the main junction resulting in chaos.
A senior citizen, K Ramulamma, from Chilkanagar
said she came to take part in the meeting voluntarily as she is a strong supporter of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who achieved separate Telangana.
A 55-year-old E. Sailu from Dammaiguda said he came to attend the meeting out of affection towards Chandrashekhar Rao as he was benefited with the state government.
At Mansoorabad crossroads in LB Nagar Assembly constituency, Rama Rao underscored the need for the stable government and able leadership.
The state was peaceful in the last 10 years with no law order problems. Irrespective of caste and religion, people from different parts of the country were residing peacefully.
The state was attracting more investments as law and order was being implemented effectively in the state. As the city expands, more job opportunities would be created, he explained.
He said if the BRS was voted to power again, then the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) would be overhauled completely by appointing efficient officers and staff, he said, adding that he took part in a meeting with the youth from Ashoknagar and assured the same.
