Deccan Park located near the Qutb Shahi Tombs at Sheikpet will finally be thrown open for the public on Monday . Municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) minister KT Rama Rao will inaugurate the park on Monday .State tourism department has proposed to develop the park further.
The Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) has developed the 20-acre Deccan Park on a 31acre parcel of government land. Though development work was carried out till 2006,
the park was not opened as a case was pending before the High Court. In 2011, the High Court ruled in favour of the government, but even then the park could not be opened as it got entangled in another controversy
“We spent Rs 2.7 crore for the development of the park and 76 workers are working to maintain it. An assistant director of horticulture has be en assigned exclusively to look after the park,“ QQSUDA secretary Kishan Kanaya said.
