Kacheguda, a century-old railway station under Hyderabad division, has added a feather in the cap of South Central Railway (SCR) as it has won the tag of first energy efficient A1 railway station in India.
The staff took a slew of measures to cut down on energy consumption. They replaced 1,312 conventional
lights with LEDs and 370 ceiling fans with brush-less DC electrical motors. Besides, 12 inverter type air conditioners have been installed. The eco-friendly measures adopted at the station, in keeping with the guidelines of Railway Board, are likely to save 1.76 lakh units worth Rs 14.08 lakh per annum.
