Kaleshwaram barrages receive copious inflow

With the recent heavy rains in nearby Maharashtra, water from upstream is flowing into the barrages present under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) project in Peddapalli of the old Karimnagar district.

With significant flow of water in the Pranahita and Godavari Rivers, the water level at Pushkar ghat in Kaleshwaram, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, was reported at 7,320 feet. The input of water into the Lakshmi barrage at Medigadda is around 24,375 cusecs. Around 9,816 cusecs of water was released downstream by opening three gates. The water storage level of Lakshmi barrage is currently 13.05 tmcs, compared to its full capacity of 16.17 tmcs.

The input of water into the Saraswathi barrage is around 16,000 cusecs. Lifting five gates released approximately 14,655 cusecs of



water into the Parvathi barrage. The water storage level at Saraswathi (Annaram) barrage is currently 7.96 tmcs, compared to its full capacity of 10.87 tmcs.

The intake of water at Parvathi barrage was 14,655 cusecs, while the outflow of water was 15,600 cusecs, with six Bahubali motor pump sets operational. The barrage's current water storage level is 6.205 tmcs, compared to its full capacity of 8.83 tmcs.

Due to large inflows of water from upstream and continuous rains over the last few days, roughly 13,050 cusecs of water were recorded at Sripada Yellampalli barrage, with an outflow of water of 6,631 cusecs. The current water storage level of Yellampalli reservoir is 13.355 tmcs, compared to its full capacity of 20.175 tmcs.
