The new train to be operated between Karimnagar and Mumbai was inaugurated on Wednesday. Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohen started the train at Secunderabad railway station, while Finance Minister Etela Rajender and local MP B Vinod Kumar flagged it off at Karimnagar railway station.
Rajender said new trains and railway lines were sanctioned for the State only after the formation of Telangana. Informing that the State government was putting serious efforts to develop railway lines, he said it paid its share to the Union government for laying the Hyderabad-Kothapalli line. Efforts were also made to lay a 1,823-km railway line in the State. Karimnagar will become a major railway junction in the coming future, he said.
Thought the foundation stone for the
Peddapalli-Nizamabad line was laid in 1991, it was completed after the formation of Telangana, MP Vinod Kumar said, adding that the Manoharabad-Kothapalli line was sanctioned by convincing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The train (11206) will ply from Karimnagar to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai once in a week. Every Sunday, it will start from Karimnagar station at 7.45 pm and reach Mumbai next day at 1.45 pm. It will leave from Mumbai at 4.40 pm on Saturday and reach Karimnagar the next day at 12.45 pm.
The train passes through Lingampalli Jagitial, Armoor, Nizamabad, Basara, Dharmabad, Umri, Muthkhad, Nanded, Purna junction, Purbani, Selu, Partor, Jalna, Aurangabad, Lasur, Rotegoan, Manmad junction, Nasik road, Devlali, Egathpuri and Kalyan.
