BRS MLC K Kavitha criticised the Congress leaders for making baseless allegations against the previous BRS government over closure of government schools. She charged the Congress of spreading falsehood to divert public attention from its own failures.
Participating in a discussion on education sector in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, Kavitha pointed to official data presented in the Parliament, which debunked the Congress’ claims. “The statistics revealed by the Central government show that Telangana’s education system improved significantly during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s 10-year rule,” she
stated.
Citing statistics, she noted that the number of government schools in Telangana rose from 29,268 in 2014-15 to 30,022 in 2023-24, while private schools declined from 15,069 to 12,126. “This proves that K Chandrashekhar Rao instilled confidence among public in government schools, leading parents to prefer them over private institutions,” she asserted.
Kavitha countered Congress’ claims stating that not a single government school was closed under Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership. “Instead, the Congress government itself shut down 1,913 schools despite the Education Commission’s recommendation against it,” she added.
