Telangana Jagruti president and BRS MLC K Kavitha questioned the Congress government for failing to fulfill its promises and indulging in diversionary tactics. She said the Congress came to power by making false promises and continues to evade its commitments.

Speaking at a meeting with Telangana Jagruti leaders from Warangal and Nalgonda districts here on Wednesday, Kavitha pointed out the delay in implementing the Mahalakshmi scheme, where women were promised Rs 2,500 per month but have received nothing even after a year. “The Chief Minister owes Rs 30,000 to each woman in Telangana under this scheme and an additional Rs 24,000 for not increasing pensions as promised,” she said.

The BRS MLC strongly criticised the Congress government’s neglect of the irrigation sector, and its failure to take up any new projects so far. She said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had made no efforts to stop the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, which the Andhra Pradesh government was

constructing on the Krishna River, despite a National Green Tribunal stay order.

She slammed the Congress for neglecting critical projects, citing the lack of progress in the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and central forces taking control of the Nagarjuna Sagar project. “Why is Revanth Reddy hesitant to question about Telangana’s water rights?” she asked.

Kavitha criticised the Congress for diverting attention from its failures by focusing on petty gestures like altering the Telangana Thalli design. She urged the government to prioritise delivering on its promises instead of engaging in political theatrics.

Reaffirming the commitment of Telangana Jagruti to addressing public issues, she emphasized the need to question the government on matters affecting the people. She also highlighted the Telangana Jagruthi’s role in advocating for BC political representation and implementing the Women’s Reservation Act, with the support of 16 political parties.
