Welcoming the Narendra Modi-led BJP government's move to introduce the Women's Reservation bill in Lok Sabha, BRS MLC and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's daughter K. Kavitha on Tuesday requested the Centre to take measures to pass the bill in Lok Sabha without interruption.

Kavitha refuted various accusations that the BRS government, led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, did not do enough for women, citing the lack of a woman minister in Rao’s first Cabinet and the low number of tickets granted to women for the upcoming state polls.

Kavitha, who earlier staged protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in

support of the bill, said that when Telangana was formed and BRS came to power, Chief Minister Rao provided 33 per cent reservation for women in the state.

"The BJP, which has enough strength in Lok Sabha, must pass the bill. BJP passed a number of bills in Parliament such as Triple Talak, GST, demonetisation and others. BRS has already announced that whenever the women reservation's bill is tabled, we will support it," she said.

"It is a significant victory for every single woman of our nation. I extend my best wishes to all citizens," Kavita said.
