Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Friday extended his greetings on Telangana Language Day which will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9.

The event is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of renowned poet Kaloji Narayana Rao, Padma Vibhushan awardee, on September 9.

He announced that the noted poet Jayaraju would received the Kaloji Narayana Rao award this year. In a statement, the CM congratulated Jayaraju on the award.

Chandrashekar Rao remembered Kaloji Narayana Rao’s invaluable contribution to Telangana language and literature.

The Chief Minister said Kaloji Narayana Rao had played a vital role in



creating awareness on Telangana language and the importance of its existence. Kaloji Narayana Rao's spirit, which was gently expressed on social problems and injustice through his poetry, is very much assimilated in the achievement and development of Telangana state, the Chief Minister said in a statement.

The Chief Minister said that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government in the state was honouring poets and writers working in the fields of Telangana language and literature by felicitating them every year in the name of Kaloji Narayana Rao.

The government has named the health university after Kaloji Narayana Rao.
