Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has issued orders to fill up 20,0000 posts in various educational institutions across the state, including 7,300 teacher posts in new residential schools for which a notification was already issued. This will be the biggest recruitment drive taken up by any state government at one go. Reviewing the education sector at Pragati Bhavan along with deputy chief minister Kadiam Srihari, ministers T Nageswara Rao, G Jagadish Reddy and public service commis sion chairman G Chakrapani, the chief minister instructed them to begin the process for the appointment of people in educational institutions within a week. 

The CM said the government had accorded permission for filling up of 20,000 vacancies and wanted the Telangana Public Service Commission to immediately issue notifications in this regard.

“Though the recruitment of huge number of teaching and non-teaching staff add more burden to the state exchequer, the chief minister asked the finance department to prepare for an additional burden of `4,500 crore in the



form of salaries,“ said a senior official who participated in the meeting.

The CM wanted completion of appointments in Kasturba Gandhi Girls Vidyalayas in the state. There are 84 KBGV schools that came up in the sta te, and there is a need to fill up 1428 posts -840 teaching and 588 non-teaching posts. The government has already given permission for the appointments and they need to be completed soon, the CM said.The government has sanctioned 377 posts for the urban residential schools in district headquarters including those in 29 newly-formed districts, the CM said. Of this 174 are teaching and 203 are non-teaching posts.The CM asked the collectors to fill up these vacancies immediately . 

The TSPSC chairman said that notification was issued for the appointment of 7,300 teachers in new residential schools and written test for this would be held on May 31. The chief minister made it clear that no delay would be entertained in filling up already notified 8,792 posts for all government schools, both primary and higher secondary .
