On the third anniversary of the formation of Telangana on Friday , the state government announced that the much-awaited `KCR Kits' scheme will be implemented from Saturday, starting with Petlaburj hospital.
Under this scheme, pregnant women will be given a financial assistance of `12,000 in three phases.An additional `1,000 will be given in case of delivery of a baby girl.
Health minister C Laxma Reddy said: “ANMs (auxiliary nurse midwifery) will go to the doorstep of pregnant women and computerize their details. They will also be issued mother-child welfare card and, based on the woman's condition, they would
suggest which hospital would be better for delivery .“
He said that the first instalment of `3,000 would be transferred after a pregnant woman undergoes two health check-ups so that she can buy nutritious food, second instal `5,000 in case of girl ment of `4, 000 (` child) would be given along with `KCR Kit' after the delivery , and the third instalment of `2,000 three months after the childbirth and last and final installment of `3,000 would be released nine months after childbirth.Reddy said that the scheme would be applicable only to women who deliver in a government hospital for a maximum of two deliveries.
