K Chandrasekhar Rao raked up the topic of a new secretariat again on Wednesday with PM Narendra Modi, urging him to direct the ministry of defence to transfer 60-acre land of Bison Polo grounds and parts of Gymkhana for construction of the new secretariat. The issue of transfer of land has been pending with the Centre for over a year now.
KCR, sitting pretty after the resounding win in the Assembly elections and sworn in as CM for the second time, called on Modi in Delhi and submitted a wishlist of 16 demands, including transfer of defence land to Telangana. He operates from his official residence of Pragathi Bhavan, drawing flak from the opposition parties.
Apart from the Bison Polo land, the government has been asking defence land for construction of elevated express highways from Paradise to Shamirpet and another one on Narsapur Road.
Since, the Centre has taken up Polavaram as a national project in Andhra Pradesh, KCR asked the PM to declare Kaleshwaram also as a national project and sanction special grant for the major irrigation project. He also raised the issues which were promised in the AP Reorganisation Act like
establishment of Indian Institute Informational Technology (IIIT) in Karimnagar, an IIM at Hyderabad, sanctioning of 21 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in newly-created districts, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Hyderabad, revival of Cement Corporation of India in Adilabad in joint collaboration with the NHAI.
The CM sought release of funds for the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone in Zaheerabad which was sanctioned a few years ago and Rs 1,000 crore for Kakatiya mega textile park in Warangal. He also asked the PM to release Rs 450 crore under backward areas’ grant at the earliest.
Since sharing of Krishna waters has been an issue between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh , KCR urged the PM to refer petitions of Telangana to the Krishna River Water Disputes Resolution Tribunal.He pointed out that promises on railway projects, SCs categorisation, tribal university and funds for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana need to be met by the Centre. He discussed the bifurcation of corporations and institutions that come under Schedule IX and Schedule X. KCR had met Modi in August this year.
