Nizamabad: AICC general secretary, Jairam Ramesh, has said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao began a ‘false campaign’ against implementation of the ‘five guarantees’ by the Congress government in Karnataka. "We will implement all the six guarantees in Telangana and we are sure of winning the assembly polls this time," he said.

Jairam Ramesh along with TPCC treasurer and the party’s Bodhan candidate P Sudarshan Reddy and TPCC vice president Taher bin Hamdan addressed the media at the Congress Bhavan on Sunday.

Ramesh said the real aim of separate Telangana state has not been achieved during the two BRS terms. "Development is concentrated only in and around Hyderabad. The Congress hoped that all cities including Nizamabad would become new cities after the formation of Telangana, but in vain," he said.

"Youths were cheated by the BRS government and Telangana now has the highest unemployment rate in the country. Despite the installation of a peoples’ government, family rule continued here for the last 10 years."

Jairam Ramesh alleged that the BJP and AIMIM were acting like B and C teams of the BRS and their aim was to prevent the Congress from winning the assembly polls. "The bubble of BJP is blasted before the assembly elections in Telangana as

their connivance with the ruling BRS party was taken note of by the people here," he said.

The Congress leader said the "strong will of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh" during the UPA-II period helped the people here realize the dream of a  separate Telangana state."

Ramesh said, "The Congress party’s ‘Six Guarantees’ are not an election stunt. These are important requirements of the people in Telangana. The Congress successfully implemented its poll promises in the form of ‘guarantees’ in Rajasthan and Karnataka so far," he explained.

He also said that after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and the Karnataka elections, the Congress mood has been upbeat in the entire South.

"The Congress party’s success mantra is to ensure internal democracy. We will decide our chief minister for Telangana by consulting all the senior leaders. We will form the government in Telangana with a comfortable majority," Ramesh asserted.

Reacting to speculations that Hyderabad will be made a Union Territory after 2024, as its status of a combined capital for AP and Telangana will end by that time, Jairam Ramesh said "Hyderabad will always be the capital for Telangana State."
