Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy accused both the BJP government at the Centre and the State government for allegedly neglecting Old City in the past seven years.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao never visited Old City nor did he convene a single review meeting since 2014. Graduates from Old City have no job opportunities and they often face discrimination at their work place,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said, addressing a series of meetings in Old City on
Tuesday as part of campaign for Congress MLC candidate G Chinna Reddy. The duo also visited Dargah Yousufain at Nampally.
The TPCC chief charged that projects like Charminar Pedestrianisation and Musi River Rejuvenation remained incomplete due to scarcity of funds and official apathy. He condemned the State government for failing to extend Metro Rail services to Old City. “Both TRS and MIM apparently want Old City to remain backward and appear like a slum area,” he said.
