Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday said it was laudable that details regarding the completion of Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) in a record time of three years and the project reaching the stage where it could supply water to farmers have been compiled for posterity and the benefit of history.
The Chief Minister was referring to a book, ‘Kaleswaram Project: Telangana Pragathi Ratham (Kaleswaram Project: The Telangana Development Chariot), written by Officer on Special Duty (Irrigation) Sridhar Deshpande.

Chandrashekhar Rao congratulated Deshpande for compiling the history and comprehensive information about the project in his book, which would help future generations understand it.
Deshpande, in his book, speaks about the commitment and dedication of Chandrashekhar Rao and how he did the research himself more than an engineer using Google Earth tools and the statistics given by the Central Water Commission on the Godavari river flow. Poet and writer Juluri Gowrishankar and Kaleswaram Engineer-in-Chief Venkateswarlu, among others, were present.
