Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday gave the green signal for the appointment of a record number of 13,357 employees, from linemen to executive director, in the Electricity Department. The Chief Minister capped the unprecedented recruitment drive with orders for simultaneous promotions to 10,000 employees.

The Chief Minister
instructed the officials concerned to not only fill up posts lying vacant since 2012, but also recruit people for future needs. Of the 13,357 posts, about 1500 are non-technical posts.
KCR’s historic decision followed requests made by senior officers led by Genco and Transco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, JMD Srinivasa Rao, SPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy and others. The Chief Minister said Telangana State was making rapid strides in the power sector and there was need to fill up the vacancies. As on date, 24 hours power supply was given to industrial, domestic and commercial sectors and efforts were on to give 24 hours power supply to the agriculture sector from the next year, the Chief Minister pointed out.
