Karimnagar has always been a lucky mascot for TRS president and CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. The CM has once again chosen Karimnagar to kick off his Lok Sabha poll campaign by addressing a public meeting there on March 17. He will then follow it up with another meeting in Nizamabad on March 19.

Announcing this at a mock poll held at Telangana Bhavan here on Monday for the March 12 MLC elections, KCR said every MLA should shoulder the responsibility of ensuring victory of party MP candidates.

That KCR holds Karimnagar close to his heart was exemplified when he had launched the ambitious Rythu Bandhu scheme from Karimnagar last year. In fact, his first public meeting christened ‘Simha Garjana’ in 2001 was in Karimnagar, setting the launchpad

for the emergence of TRS in Telangana.

KCR had also scored a hattrick of wins from Karimnagar LS seat. After winning in 2004, KCR retained the seat by emerging victorious in 2006 and 2008 by-polls within a span of four years. Karimnagar also played host to KCR’s first official visit as CM.

At the meeting with party MLAs, KCR made it clear that it is their responsibility to get the MP candidates elected with a thumping majority. In every meeting that KCR intends to address, a crowd of at least two lakh is expected to attend. More meetings to cover 16 out of 17 LS constituencies are being planned. The meeting was attended by all TRS MLAs, including party working president K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao.
