Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao will chair the TRS Legislative Party meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Monday.
Though the meeting is primarily aimed at consolidating party MLA votes for the Tuesday’s MLC elections, the legislators are also likely to discuss strategies and issues pertaining to April 11 Lok Sabha elections.
The TRS has fielded Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Seri Subhash Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod and Yegge Mallesham as its candidates for the MLC elections under MLAs quota. AIMIM candidate Mirza Riyaz ul Hasan Effendi also filed his nominations. The TRS is confident of winning all five MLC seats (including the MIM seat).
In addition to seven MIM MLAs, the TRS has a strength of 90 MLAs, including two independent legislators who joined the TRS recently, in the Assembly. Four Congress MLAs and one TDP MLA have already announced their decision to join the TRS, taking its tally to 102
MLA votes out of 119 MLAs leaving the Congress literally empty-handed.
With the schedule for Lok Sabha elections announced by the Election Commission, the TRSLP is also likely to discuss its preparations for the elections. The TRSLP meeting will also discuss the ongoing
Parliamentary constituency-wise preparatory meetings being attended by party working president KT Rama Rao who will resume the second spell of meetings on March 13.
The Chief Minister is expected to give directions to the party MLAs on their responsibilities and strategies for the Parliamentary elections. He is learnt to be keen on getting a huge majority for the TRS MP candidates through consolidation of votes from all Assembly segments. He is also likely to give clarity on his public meetings. Chandrashekhar Rao, according to sources, is likely to announce the list of MP candidates in a couple of days.
