Adilabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s scheduled public meeting in Mancherial on June 9 has assumed importance as he is likely to formally launch the 2nd phase of his schemes for distribution of sheep, house sites to the poor and a Rs 1 lakh financial assistance to BCs who depend on their caste-related vocations.

The meeting is to be held at the centre of the coal belt area spread over Mancherial, Peddapalli, and Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli districts, in the run-up to the assembly elections before the year-end.

The new schemes will be launched as part of the decennial celebration of Telangana Formation Day this year. Efforts are being made by local MLA Diwakar Rao and Balka Suman to bring large numbers of people to the meeting. KCR is coming to Mancherial after a long time to address a public meeting.

Party leaders are seeing this as the start of the ruling BRS’ campaign for the assembly

elections.

Chennur MLA and party whip Balka Suman said the Mancherial meeting will see the CM launching the three schemes.

KCR would inaugurate the Integrated District Office Complex (collectorate) near Naspur, the BRS party district office building in Mancherial district, and lay the foundation stone for the government medical college and hospital buildings and for the oil palm industry, with an investment of Rs 500crore, near Mandamarri.

Balka Suman said KCR would also lay the foundation stone for a bridge on the Godavari river on the road route from Mancherial to Anthergaon and a water project to irrigate one lakh acres from the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation with a proposed investment of Rs 1,658 crore. These, apart from the Barthanpalli Lift irrigation scheme, with a Rs 90 crore investment to irrigate 10,000 acres in Chennur assembly constituency.
