This time, the gold bonam costing about Rs.1crore would be offered to the mother goddess, said animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to offer this gold bonam weighing about 3.8kg. Bonalu festivities will start in the historic Ujjaini Mahankali temple at Secunderabad from July 15 and the main two-day annual Bonalu festival will be held from July 29.
The annual Bonalu festival will be celebrated during Aashada jatara in Ujjaini Mahankali temple on July 29 followed by rangam on July 30.
“This time, gold bonam costing
about Rs.1 crore will be offered to the goddess,” the minister said after a review meeting with heads of various departments on arrangements to be made for successful conduct of the annual mega event.
The Telangana government will release money for making all arrangements in Mahankali temples well ahead of the festival. The rangam event will be held on July 30 wherein predictions about the health and well-being of the people in the State and country are made.
The event will be followed by a procession of the deity on an elephant.
