Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao along with his family members received traditional welcome with ‘Poorna Kumbham’ by priests at Sri Jagannadh temple in Puri upon his arrival from Bhubaneshwar on Monday. He was in Puri to fulfill his vows and perform special puja to Lord Jagannadh in the wake of his resounding victory in the recent Assembly polls.
The Chief Minister performed special puja at Sri Sarada Peetham in Visakhapatnam on Sunday and had flown down to Bhubaneshwar to hold talks with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the proposed federal front. The duo were in agreement over the dire need for an alternative to Congress and BJP at the Centre and shared their views on working together with other like-minded regional parties.
On the second day of his four-State tour, Chandrashekhar Rao and his family members arrived at Sri Jagannadh temple at Puri. The Telangana Chief Minister who received a hero’s welcome at Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneshwar, received similar cheering from crowds in Puri as well.
Locals and devotees, mostly comprising Telugu people,
learnt about his arrival, and gathered in large numbers outside the temple to have a glimpse at the man whose flagship programme ‘Rythu Bandhu’ is creating ripples in various States and forcing the respective State governments to propose similar initiatives.
The priests and officials of Sri Jagannadh temple welcomed Chandrashekhar Rao with traditional ‘Poorna Kumbham’ and presented him with tradition clothes. He performed special puja to fulfill their vows. The temple authorities took the VVIP family around the temple and explaining the salient features as well as history of the temple. He will also visit Konark temple and perform special puja, before returning to Bhubaneshwar.
After lunch, the Chief Minister will head for Kolkata in a special flight and meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take forward their discussions on federal front. Later, he is scheduled to visit the Kali temple to perform puja. He will reach New Delhi tonight, to continue his efforts to stitch an alliance of regional political parties for next three days.
