Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has proved himself in Telangana and is now in the process of repeating it at the national level, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao said on Thursday.
In an informal chat with the media in the lobbies of the Legislative Assembly, Rama Rao said the Chief Minister would be setting the national agenda now. “Just as Narendra Modi, after developing Gujarat with his own model, moved to national politics, KCR too will set the agenda for the nation replicating the Telangana State model of development,” he said.
Stating that the country had already started responding to the Chief Minister’s call qualitative for change in national politics, the Minister said: “He knows what the country needs now and he has done enough exercise in this regard.”
Takes jibe at Centre,Faulting the Central government for encroaching on
the jurisdiction of States, the Minister said the Centre, in fact, should work towards resolving inter-State disputes such as water issues and sharing surplus power among other issues. “I fail to understand why the Centre should interfere or involve itself in State affairs and local bodies functioning,” he said.
The Minister, who spent almost half-an-hour with the media in a free-wheeling chat, shared his views on various topics, including the recent jolt suffered by the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar Lok Sabha by-elections. Comparing the by-elections caused by the resignations of KCR and Yogi Adityanath, he said that while the TRS candidate romped home with an impressive margin, the BJP candidate in Gorakhpur lost the by-poll. “This clearly indicates that the poeple were rejecting BJP while identifying themselves with KCR’s views on national politics,” he said.
