The Telangana state BJP is hoping that it will soon step up its activities and make its presence felt strongly in the public once its new president, Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, takes charge as the party chief in the state on July 21.

Kishan Reddy, currently abroad, is expected to return to New Delhi on Wednesday morning and reach Hyderabad late Wednesday evening.

According to party sources, Kishan Reddy is expected to visit the state government’s two-bedroom housing project in Batasingaram on July 20 to inspect the houses as part of the BJP’s action plan to demand that the state government keep its promises of 2BHK houses for the poor.

The party had already announced that it will hold dharnas in all district headquarters to demand houses on July 24, followed by a maha dharna at

Indira Park Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad on July 25.

Once Kishan Reddy takes charge, the first task would be to head the arrangements for a public meeting in Khammam, tentatively scheduled for July 29, where Union minister Amit Shah is expected to address the public.

Party sources, however, said they are awaiting confirmation of Shah's schedule before they start making preparations in earnest for the meeting.

The party’s focus on two-bedroom houses is in addition to its agitation demanding immediate clearance of the promised 1 lakh agricultural loan waiver for farmers. The party leaders said they have also planned a series of other activities, which will be rolled out after Kishan Reddy takes charge as the state party president.
