Telangana experienced one of its coldest mornings on Friday, with temperatures dropping to 8.6°C in Moula Ali and 8.7ºC in Rajendranagar. Kondapak in Siddipet recorded 8.2°C, the coldest in the state.
According to Indian Meteorological Department-Hyderabad, the cold snap was the result of northeasterly winds prevailing over the state. The previous record lowest temperature in Hyderabad this century was 8.9°C recorded on December 21, 2010. Many people braved the cold to experience ‘hill station weather.’
BHEL in the city recorded 9.2°C, and Sivarampally 10.5°C in the city limits while on the outskirts Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district recorded
8.5°C, and Pembi in Nirmal district 8.6°C. Several other places, including Dharmapuri and Maheswaram, recorded temperatures below 10ºC.
Relief is expected as experts predict a warming trend starting Saturday. Dry weather will prevail for three days in the city and across Telangana state, Telangana State Development Planning Society said in its forecast on Friday.
Because the air will have less moisture, the minimum temperature will rise to 13° to 17°C. In the GHMC area, the minimum temperatures are expected to range from 14° to 16°C and maximum temperatures from 28° to 30°C.
