Karimnagar: Kamalapur police registered a case against BRS candidate and MLC Padi Koushik Reddy on charges of violating the model code of conduct (MCC) during the election campaign that was held on Tuesday in Huzurabad Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district.

Circle inspector Sanjeev said that after receiving a complaint from Kamalapur MPDO, a case was booked against Koushik under IPC Sections 171, 188, 506 and 123.

Earlier, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the returning officer of the Huzurabad constituency to conduct an enquiry into Kaushik’s suicide threat



and submit a report on it.

During a roadshow, Koushik had said that he would take out a victory rally if they elected him. Otherwise, he threatened to commit suicide along with his wife and daughter and asked the voters to attend his funeral procession on December 4.

The video of Koushik making the comments went viral receiving criticism from various sections of people.

Kaushik Reddy is contesting against BJP MLA and former minister Eatala Rajender and Congress candidate Vodithala Pranav from Huzurabad.
