The BJP leaders have no specific answers to the questions posed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, said TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao. He asked the party cadre to work with the spirit of Telangana movement and protest against the Centre’s discrimination towards farmers of Telangana in paddy procurement. He wanted them to participate in the protests scheduled to be held in all Assembly constituency headquarters on November 12.
Addressing the party activists’ meeting in Kamareddy on Tuesday, Rama Rao said Telangana was witnessing an all-round development with the Chief Minister’s able administration, welfare schemes and development programmes under the TRS government. While the Union Ministers as well as leaders from neighbouring States are lauding the development in Telangana, he felt that the Opposition leaders have turned a blind eye to the same.
“How many BJP-ruled States are providing safe drinking water to every household or established a nursery in every village? The Centre had copied our Rythu Bandhu scheme, to implement PM Kisan,” he pointed out.
The Minister said the Centre had written letters to the State government making it clear that they would not purchase paddy from Telangana State during Yasangi (Rabi) season. Hence, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy had urged farmers to cultivate profitable and alternative crops to replace paddy. He said the BJP leaders were making false promises and encouraging farmers to cultivate paddy, in an
attempt to reap political mileage by putting farmers at risk.
“TRS activists along with farmers should participate in the protests on November 12, compelling the Centre to purchase entire paddy yield from Telangana as done in case of Punjab,” he said.
He wanted the party activists to strongly counter the false propaganda being spread by the Opposition parties on the social media. He felt that it was time that the TRS activists act strongly against the Opposition’s criticism. “The Opposition leaders think that the Chief Minister has become soft after assuming the post. But they are unable to realise that he had never lost his originality and could turn aggressive when required,” he added.
The TRS working president slammed the Congress for criticising the Telangana government over development. He reminded that Congress and TDP ruled Telangana in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh from 1956 to 2014 and demanded to know what they have done for development of Telangana during their regime.
“The Congress which ruled Telangana for major tenure, had failed to provide quality power and even safe drinking water. But the TRS government had carried out more development works in last seven years than the Congress government over 60 years. The Reserve Bank of India termed Telangana as fourth largest contributor to the national economy which speaks volumes of the achievements of the TRS government.” he said.
