BRS working president KT Rama Rao called for unity among residents of Musi River neighbourhood areas to resist the Congress-led government’s controversial Musi Riverfront Development Project. He said the Congress government was planning large-scale demolitions to benefit private developers.

“We can only fight this government if we stand united. If one person faces an issue, everyone must come together,” he said, addressing gatherings in different residential areas of Hyderguda and Kishanbagh areas in Rajendranagar constituency on Monday.

Rama Rao raised concerns over the government’s plan to target 18,000 homes. “We will not allow a single house to be demolished. Is Congress planning to destroy homes to build malls?” he asked, stating that the BRS would stand with the victims and its legal cell would take up the issue in the Supreme Court, if needed, to ensure them justice.

The BRS working president also took

a direct swipe at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, labeling him unfit and inept, while stating that his government was recklessly targeting public property worth Rs.1,000 crore in Hyderguda alone. “The way people are venting out their anger against Revanth Reddy on social media shows his credibility is sinking,” he remarked, adding that Hyderabad had never faced any flooding issues with the Musi River from 1920 to 2020, the last time when an unprecedented downpour caused problems.

Rama Rao called out the hypocrisy of the Congress, highlighting that the same party that approved and registered properties was now demolishing them. Drawing a contrast with previous Congress regimes, he noted that during the Congress rule, Hyderabad used to see frequent curfews. “But after K Chandrashekhar Rao became the Chief Minister, the city has flourished without a single curfew. With the Congress back in power, the city is again witnessing unrest due to these demolitions,” he said
