Highlighting the inconsistencies in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s stance with that of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) lambasted the party-led Telangana government for its dealings with the Adani Group.

KTR accused the Congress of hypocrisy in its approach to the corporate giant, which was indicted by a US court for bribery. At a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, KTR demanded immediate cancellation of all agreements worth Rs 12,400 crores between the Telangana Congress government and Adani, including investments in green energy, data centres, and cement industries.

KTR also highlighted Kenya’s recent termination of agreements with Adani, urging Telangana Congress to cancel their deals if they are genuinely concerned about the group’s alleged malpractices.

KTR said that while party leaders like Rahul Gandhi condemned Adani’s alleged corruption at the national level, the party-led government was maintaining lucrative partnerships in Telangana. “How can the Congress call Adani corrupt in Delhi but treat him as a trusted business

partner in Telangana?” KTR asked.

According to him, such duplicity damaged public trust in the state. KTR alleged that the Telangana Congress received a Rs 100 crore donation from Adani for the Telangana Skill University. He called for the donation to be returned, asserting that Congress must align its actions with its accusations. “If Congress genuinely believes Adani is corrupt, they must sever all ties, including returning this donation,” KTR stated.

KTR reiterated how the previous government, under BRS, firmly refused to collaborate with Adani, unlike the Congress, which he alleged, prioritised corporate interests.

KTR challenged Congress leaders to clarify their stance, demanding answers from Revanth Reddy on his meetings and agreements with Adani. He urged the media and public to question Congress’s sincerity.

He accused the Congress of adopting double standards with a “good Adani, bad Adani” approach: aligning with Adani for financial gains while criticising him publicly. He also highlighted Congress’s silence on the public opposition to an Adani cement plant in Ramannapet.
