TRS working president KT Rama Rao has declared solidarity with the people of Visakhapatnam in their protest against the Centre’s move to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
“We stand with the people of Visakhapatnam against privatization of the VSP. If necessary, with permission of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, we will visit Visakhapatnam to extend our support,” he said here on Wednesday.
Criticizing the BJP-led Central government’s move, Rao said the State government was asking for new educational institutions like IIM, NID, JNVs and government medical colleges, the Centre had not sanctioned a single institution to
Telangana.
Asking why BJP MLC Ramachandra Rao was not questioning his party leadership in New Delhi over Telangana being neglected, KTR said the State government had filled up 1.32 lakh vacancies in the last six years. The Congress government in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had filled 24,048 jobs from 2004-2014, out of which Telangana’s share was only about 10,000, he said.
“In the last 10 years, the Congress government filled only 1,000 posts per year, but the Telangana government has given 20,000-22,000 jobs per year,” he said, adding that 50,000 more jobs would be notified soon by the State government.
