Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticised the Telangana Congress party for presenting an erroneous and incomplete caste census report in Parliament, accusing them of misleading the public and betraying the backward classes (BCs).

In a letter addressed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, KTR pointed out multiple errors in the census data and demanded an apology from Gandhi to the BC community.

“The malicious intentions of the Congress party by tabling this incomplete report is an absolute mockery,” he said.

KTR questioned the decline in the BC population, noting that the 2014 Samagra Kutumbha Survey (SKS) recorded 1.85 crore BCs in Telangana, amounting to 51 per cent of the population. However, the latest report presented by Congress claims that the BC population has dropped to 1.64 crore, or 46 per cent, over the past decade. He raised concerns about how such a steep decline could be justified and demanded that Rahul Gandhi provide a reasonable explanation.

The BRS leader also accused the Congress party of having no intention to honor their promises regarding 42 per cent BC reservation in the upcoming local body polls. KTR reminded Rahul Gandhi of

the Kamareddy BC Declaration made during the Telangana elections, criticising the Congress for its apparent U-turn on the issue.

“The Congress has shown zero commitment towards granting the promised 42 per cent reservation to BCs. This is nothing but a backstab to the BC community,” KTR said. He said that the BC community in Telangana would not stay silent and vowed that Congress would face consequences in the upcoming elections.

KTR also expressed disappointment over Rahul Gandhi's claims in Parliament, stating that the caste census report was incomplete and misleading. He accused the Congress of pushing for the implementation of the flawed data without addressing its errors.

“The errors in this report are a stark reminder of Congress’s lack of commitment towards the BC community. This will directly affect BC students, employees, and their opportunities,” KTR added.

In a final remark, KTR demanded that Rahul Gandhi apologise unconditionally to the BC community for the misleading report and the failure to fulfill promises made to them. He warned that the BC community would hold Congress accountable, not only in the upcoming local body elections but in every future election in Telangana.
