Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday commenced the distribution of PPE safety kits to the GHMC Entomology and sanitation staff.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of GHMC sanitation, entomology and Disaster Response Force workers in containing the spread coronavirus in the municipal corporation limits. The municipal corporation is spending about Rs.13 crore for distribution of safety kits to all the 22,000 sanitary workers and 2,500 entomology workers.

The State government will



extend all support to the sanitary, entomology and DRF staff and directed to use the safety kits religiously while on duty, the Minister said.

Each of these kits is worth of Rs.6,710 and comes with 56 masks, two pairs of gloves, sanitiser bottle, six litres of coconut oil, 36 soaps, one bath towel, one pair of shoes, one cap, a rain coat and a GHMC jacket. Similarly, the kits to be offered for sanitary workers cost Rs.4,100 each (females) and Rs.4,300 (males).

Distribution of the safety kits will be completed in three weeks.
