The 550th Sri Guru Nanak Prakash Yatra was flagged off by Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao from the Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet here on Thursday morning.
The Prakash Yatra had started on June 2 from Sri Gurudwara Nanak Jhira Bidar in Karnataka and travelled through various parts of the country covering major cities, towns and State capitals and reached Hyderabad on Wednesday evening.
On Thursday, a ‘Nagar Keertan’ was taken out from Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet which passed through Punjagutta, Khairatabad, Lakdi-ka-pul, Abids, Koti and Putlibowli and reached the Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda. In the afternoon, after a brief halt at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj, it traversed
through Nayapul, Madina, Charmahal Gurudwara, Puranapul, Bahadarpura to Puratan Gurudwara Saheb Asha Singh Bagh, Sikh Chavani for a night halt in the city.
T Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Mohd Qamaruddin - Chairman of Telangana State Minorities Commission, AK Khan, Advisor to Government of Telangana on Minority Affairs and others were present at the event.
The members of the organizing committee presented a Siropa (robe of honour) and Kirpan (sword) to the attended dignitaries. During the four days of yatra in the city, various programmes like Nagar keertans, Vishal Deewaan, Gatka skills, religious processions and other programmes will be conducted.
