IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao was invited for the 49th World Economic Forum (WEF-2019) scheduled to be held at Davos, Switzerland, from January 22 to 25. He expressed happiness over receiving the WEF invitation for the second consecutive year and thanked it for recognising the unique initiatives of the Telangana government.
Rao attended WEF 2018 for the first time in January, presenting Telangana as India’s startup State and a favoured investment destination. Since then, the State attracted investments worth Rs 16,892.52 crore.
In the invite, WEF President Borge Brende lauded the novel schemes of the government and its industrial reforms blending technology, entrepreneurship and innovation for speedy growth. He invited Rao to give a presentation on urban
development, digitalisation, Ease of Doing Business, employment generation, transparency in government administration and other reforms by the Telangana government in its four-and-half-year tenure. He offered all support to the government to use WEF as a platform to attract more investments.
The 49th WEF will be held under the theme – ‘Globalisation 4.0: Shaping Global Architechture in the Age of Industrial Revolution’. The WEF invitation is usually sent to Chief Ministers and Union Ministers. But, Rao was called as a special invitee, considering the reforms in Telangana and the State’s rapid growth.
Around 3,000 delegates, including political heads, business tycoons and investors, from across the globe will participate in the event.
