BRS working president KT Rama Rao and senior MLA T Harish Rao blamed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his mindless decisions and farmers’ furore, leading to the attack on officials including Vikarabad Collector Prateek Jain at Lagacherla village in Kodangal, the home constituency of the Chief Minister on Monday. They termed the attack on government officials unfortunate, stating that it reflects the failed governance as well as failed law and order in the State.

Reacting to the incident, Rama Rao held Revanth Reddy responsible for jeopardising the State’s ambitious Pharma City project and conspiring to sell off the land acquired for the project for real estate development. “Pharma City, which was on the verge of launching after securing all necessary approvals, is now in limbo due to Revanth Reddy’s reckless decision to cancel it and establish pharma clusters across 10 locations,” he said.

He said this move was a cover for a conspiracy to sell off land acquired for the Pharma City project and to grab more land in Kodangal and other places, in the name of establishing new pharma industries. “This is not governance for the people; it’s governance that people are

rising against. Revanth Reddy’s greed and incompetence have made officials scapegoats. Does he have the courage to face the people of Dudyala mandal without security?” he asked.

Warning that people of Telangana would not tolerate any form of oppression and would revolt against the oppressors, he said the Congress would pay dearly for its anti-people policies.

Senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao also dubbed the Revanth Reddy government as a disaster in the making. He pointed to the chaos in Vikarabad and Zaheerabad, where farmers were opposing plans to establish pharma villages in their agricultural fields. “We had planned a pollution-free, zero-waste Pharma City in about 15,000 acres near Hyderabad. Besides acquiring land, we got all permissions as well. But Revanth Reddy’s shortsighted policies are spreading pharma pollution into pristine agricultural lands,” he remarked.

Both the BRS leaders demanded that the Congress government reverse its decision to split the Pharma City project and instead focus on effective governance. They suggested Revanth Reddy to stop imposing his reckless decisions on the people, before the entire State turns against him.
