Anticipating trouble in the wake of arrest of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, the police placed several BRS leaders under house arrest in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The police were deployed in large numbers at the residences of the party working president KT Rama Rao, senior MLA T Harish Rao and several other senior leaders including MLAs. They informed the BRS leaders about the detention.

Meanwhile, the court granted bail to Kaushik Reddy in Karimnagar. He is likely to be released by noon. Earlier, he was picked up in Hyderabad following three cases against him following his heated argument with defected MLA M Sanjay Kumar at district collectorate in Karimnagar on Sunday. He was kept in police

custody through out Monday night, before being produced before the district magistrate.

Speaking to mediapersons at his residence in Kokapet, Harish Rao was elated over the court granting bail to Kaushik Reddy. He stated that despite having possibility of releasing the BRS MLA on station bail, the police intentionally kept him at police station overnight.

“This is clearly a politically motivated case. Kaushik Reddy who had zero cases against him , is facing around 28 cases under the Congress government. He is being harassed for questioning the government. The DGP must instruct the police officials on how to deal with such politically motivated cases sensibly,” he said.
