KTR holds review meeting on city roads

Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Wednesday hold a meeting with senior officials to review various issues including roads, improvement of junctions and major civic issues in Greater Hyderabad.
The meeting held at Dr. Marri Channa Reddy HRD Institute was attended by MA&UD Principal Secretary M.G. Gopal, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, GHMC Commissioner Dr. Janardhan Reddy, HMWS&SB MD Dana Kishore, HMDA Commissioner Chiranjeevulu, HMR MD NVS Reddy and other senior officials.
The Minister said that the government had sanctioned Rs. 75 crore to carry out repairs of roads which got damaged due to heavy rains. Of 489 sanctioned works, 176 works have been completed. He directed the officials to complete the remaining works on priority in a time-bound manner by maintaining quality. He directed the



officials to take up 480 lane kilometers white toping roads duly following package system and the works should be completed before the next rainy season.
The GHMC Commissioner informed that the corporation has purchased 150 vibrators for taking up road repairing works.The Minister also had detailed discussions with regard to SRDP (Strategic Road Development Project) which is proposed to be implemented at a cost of Rs. 2,631 crores in 5 packages.
The GHMC is also planning to take up about widening of 127 roads. KTR instructed the officials to take up widening of 57 roads immediately in the first phase at a cost of Rs. 208 crores. About junction improvements in the city, about 30 survey works are in progress. During the meeting, issues pertaining to construction of bus shelters and bus rapid transport system were also discussed.
