Hyderabad: Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Tuesday promised to take measures for the overall development of Old City of Hyderabad.
KTR, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and other leaders and officials, inaugurated several developmental programmes in the Old City on Tuesday.
At Goutham Nagar crossroads Film Nagar, he inaugurated a community hall. Later, he inaugurated the Farooq Nagar Bus Depot. He then visited Mahaboob Chowk an d Clock Tower to review the proposed modernisation works. He also inaugurated newly constructed Moghalpura Sports Complete.
The minister also inaugurated newly constructed Mailardevpally playground, AC toilets at Aramghar, model market at Premavatipet and Chintakunta Park at Attapur.
Speaking to media persons, KTR made several announcements for the Old City. He said double bed room houses for the weaker sections of Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Yakutpura and Bahadurpura constituencies at 10-12 acres of police land at Falaknuma. He also sanctioned Rs. 27 crore for construction of new Railway Over Bridge at Falaknuma.
He announced that the Chowk-e-Murghan and Clock Tower
would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 5 crore. He also cleared GHMC’s proposal for the restoration and beautification of Char Kaman at a cost of Rs. 1.75 crore.
He said that the Musi River Front Corporation was being constituted to complete the cleaning up of river within one year. He assured that the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project would be expedited.
He said a meeting would be convened with Hyderabad MP and senior officials to discuss measures to resolve problems of sewerage, power and drinking water in the Old City.
Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi announced his party’s support to the TRS Government for the development of Telangana State. However, he said that the dream of ‘Bangaru Telangana’ could not be achieved without developing the Old City. He also welcome the enhancement of Muslim reservation to 12% and advised the government to overcome all legal hurdles in its implementation.
Transport Minister Mahender Reddy, MLAs Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and Maozam Khan, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddinj, RTC Chairman S. Satyanarayana, Principal Secretary Transport Sunil Sharma, RTC MD GV Ramana, GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy and other senior officials were also present. (INN)
