BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said the Congress government in Telangana was trampling on democratic rights, with the Revanth Reddy government targeting and harassing BRS leaders for supporting University of Hyderabad (UoH) students and raising concerns over the biodiversity loss at Kancha Gachibowli.

Taking to X, Rama Rao said BRS leaders Konatham Dileep and Krishank Manne were subjected to over nine hours of police questioning, allegedly for their social media posts backing the student protests. He said police were now threatening to

unofficially search their homes and seize their phones.

“Revanth Reddy plays Gandhi in Ahmedabad but continues to bulldoze over democratic rights of citizens in Telangana,” he said, reacting to Revanth Reddy’s remarks at AICC meeting in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. He questioned whether Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to life and personal liberty, still holds value.

“Does privacy mean anything at all?” he asked, condemning the government’s actions as a blatant attack on dissent and free speech.
