Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao will launch 70 min sewer-jetting machines at a function to be held on Monday at People’s Plaza. These machines are being introduced to eliminate the manual cleaning of manholes.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) will be deploying 70 mini jetting machines because of difficulty in deployment of large machines in
the narrow lanes and smaller colonies to clear the choked sewer drains.
This first of its kind an initiative in India is the joint effort by the HMWS&SB and DICCI (Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry). Each machine has been purchased at a cost Rs 26 lakh. The SBI gave term loan of Rs 20 lakh per machine while the entrepreneur invested about Rs 6 lakh each.
